Show Notes

I’d like to begin this episode by acknowledging the land that I am learning and living on is the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People.

Ever work at a company that was hitting its goals and making money, but at the end of the day everyone hates their lives and dreams about becoming a yoga teacher? When companies only reward financial performance, their cultures can devolve into nonstop defensiveness and cynicism - something called toxic excellence.

Dr. Kim Perkins, a PhD in positive organizational psychology and the author of Winner Take None, joins the show to discuss the concept of toxic excellence, what it is, how we can recognize it, and most importantly, how emerging leaders can face it head-on and use our judgemental and competitive energy in positive ways.
